Transition into Reception

Embarking on an educational journey in the Reception Year is such a special time for both children and families. The academy prides itself on ensuring that this transition is seamless to support children as they start school. As part of this, we offer a range of transition opportunities for both children and families to attend.

Key Dates for 2026-2027

Parent & Carer Information Sessions

We warmly invite parents and carers to join us at our information sessions held at the academy. Within these sessions we will share information about the academy, your child’s class, learning and curriculum and vital information about the academy day. There will even be an opportunity to sample some of the meals offered by our provider!

This sessions will be held on:

Wednesday 03rd June 2026, 10.00-11.15am or 3.45-5.00pm

Book Share Events

Join us in the academy for a book share session. This session offers a special opportunity to engage in reading for pleasure in the classroom environment and provides the children with valuable time with their new teacher and staff in the classroom.

This session will be held on:

Tuesday 30th June 2026, 2.00-2.45pm

Transition Days

Children are invited to attend sessions across 2 days as part of their transition into the academy. Further details of these sessions will be communicated to you in due course.

Transition into Secondary Education

Transition to Year 7 can be a worrying time for children. At Holbeach Bank Academy, we support this process by offering children the opportunity to discuss their worries and fears throughout the year. We also have a number of lessons to help the children such as the Max Respect project.

We liaise closely with the allocated secondary schools for our pupils and ensure that the appropriate provision is in place to support transitions. An individualised approach is taken where required which might include additional transition sessions, meetings with specific staff members and key resources shared.
