Safeguarding

Safeguarding Intent

Holbeach Bank Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment, creating a positive culture of safeguarding.

Every pupil should be able to participate in all academy activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm. This is the responsibility of every adult employed by or invited to deliver services at or to the academy. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from harm and educating them on how to stay safe.

All staff have appropriate training so that they understand their roles and responsibilities and are confident about carrying them out. At Holbeach Bank Academy we have a dedicated Safeguarding Team who are trained to support children and families with any concern and will work with a wide variety of agencies to support all children.

Our school operates a child-centred approach to understand the needs and views of children. We recognise the importance of enabling children to talk openly about anything that worries them. Every member of staff has a collective recognition of the importance of providing an environment that helps children feel safe and respected, and a culture that encourages children to talk to a trusted adult, and have the confidence that they will be listened to, or access well-publicised systems for reporting or disclosing abuse or harm.

It is a Department for Education requirement that each school in the country nominates a senior member of staff who will have special responsibility for Child Protection.
