Swimming is part of the National Curriculum and we hope that all children by the end of Year 6, will at least achieve the government recommendation of being able to swim 25 metres. To that end the academy has continued to subsidise this opportunity for from year 4 to Year 6. The children in Year 4 and 5 complete half a term of swimming each year and Year 6 complete 2 half terms or one large term to ensure they have the opportunity to develop their skills fully to become water confident.
Throughout their swimming lessons the children enjoy a range of water based activities as well as learning a range of water safety skills. This further supports the children in developing their swimming strokes as well as their water confidence.
